The Difference Between A Man's And Woman's Prayer

In general women should also pray in the same way as has been explained above, yet there is some difference lom the prayers of the two in certain items. These are:

1. At the time of saying Takbeer Tahreemah, mer should take their hands out of their sheets or the like to raise them to the ears. Women should in all circumstances raise their hands to their ears without taking their hands out of their sheets or wrappers.

2. After Takbeer Tahreemah men should fold their hands below their navels, but women should fold their hands on their chests.

3. While standing men should grip the wrist of their left hand with a ring formed with the little finger and the thumb of the right hand and spread the remaining three fingers on the wrist, but women should place their right palm at the back of the left palm. They should not grip the left hand by forming a ring as men do.

4. It is necessary for men to bow down well and suffi-ciently during genuflexion, so as to bring the head and the back at the same level. Women should bow down only to the extent that their hands may reach their knees.

5. During genuflexion men should grip their knees with the fingers kept wide-open, but women should keep their fingers joined together.

 6. During genuflexion men should keep their elbows away from the sides, but women should keep their elbows joined with the sides.

7. During prostration men should keep their belly away from the thighs and arms away from the armpits, but wornen should keep these joined together.

 8. During prostration men should keep their elbows raised from the ground, but women should keep their el-bows spread on the ground.

9. During prostration men should keep both their feet erect on the toes, but women should keep both their feet spread on the ground pointed to the right.

 10. During the sitting posture men should sit on the left feet and keep the right feet erect on the toes. Women should sit keeping both their feet spread towards the right.

11. Women are not allowed to recite the Qur'an loudly at anytime; they will always recite in low voice.
